Amplitude - definition

Definition: The maximum value of a quantity that varies sinusoidally during a cycle.

The coefficient of a particular basis function when a varying quantity is expanded in that function.

Examples: x=A*sin(t) -> Amplitude: A. x= A*sin(t)+B*sin(2t) -> Amplitude of the low frequency part of x: A, amplitude of the high frequency part of x: B.
