Arago point - definition - light, optics and diffraction
Definition: The bright spot found along the axis in the shadow of a disk. It is caused by the diffraction of light around the edges of the disk. The spot of Arago is named after the french physicist Arago who discovered it after it was predicted by the diffraction theories of Fresnel.
