color force - definition - quarks, the standard model and particle physics

Definition: the force between particles carrying color charge - quarks and gluons. This is the force due to the strong interaction.

One effect of the color force is to ensure that particles made of quarks (like protons and neutrons) are white. The interaction between color charged particles is described by the theory known as quantum chromodynamics.
