convection of heat - definition - fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and thermal physics
Definition: The transfer of heat in a fluid by the circulation of flow due to temperature differences. The regions of higher temperature, being less dense, rise, while the regions of lower temperature move down to take their place. The convection currents so formed help to keep the temperature more uniform than if the fluid was stagnant.
