fluid - definition
Definition: Any substance that, under ordinary pressure and temperature, cannot sustain a shearing stress without deforming continuously, as long as the stresses are applied. That is, a fluid is a substance that gives ways when you push it. Basically, both liquids and gases are fluids, where as solids, which resist shearing stress are not.
