light year

Definition: The distance light travels in one year. This is equal to approximately 9.5x1015m.

    1 light-year = c m/s * X s/year * 1 year

    = c*60s/min*1440mins/day*365.25 days/year * 1 year

    = 9.46x1015m

Despite regular misunderstanding, a light year is a measure of distance, not of time.
